Device storage & cookies
No advertising trackers: Chapbook does not use behavioural advertising, third-party analytics pixels or social tracking cookies. It uses first-party device storage to provide the local/offline application you request.
What is stored
- IndexedDB: drafts, Partner sessions, snapshots, ideas and profile records — until deleted, forgotten or browser data is cleared.
- Local storage: licence, GitHub/AI/R2 settings and credentials, theme, onboarding, dictation choice and versioned legal acceptance — until disconnected/cleared.
- Cache Storage/service worker: application shell, scripts, fonts, icons and the local Whisper model for installation/offline use — replaced by updates or cleared by the browser/user.
- Memory/session data: temporary streams, recordings and unsaved UI state — released after the task/page closes unless saved.
Why no cookie banner appears
These stores are required to provide the requested local/offline app, remember user-requested choices, authenticate an optional connection or secure a session. They are not used for cross-site tracking. Where storage law treats them as strictly necessary, a separate opt-in is not required, but this notice remains available. Any future non-essential analytics/advertising storage must stay off until valid consent is obtained.
Control and deletion
Export before clearing data. Use Settings → Sign out & forget this device, clear browser site data or uninstall. Revoke credentials at GitHub, the AI provider or Cloudflare after a lost/shared device. Clearing Chapbook does not delete published repositories/R2 media or necessarily revoke a remote token.
