Legal centre
Chapbook is local-first: drafts remain on this device unless you deliberately connect GitHub, an AI provider or media storage. These documents explain the contract, the limited information RQAI receives, optional third parties and the safeguards expected when AI assists a publication.
Documents
- Terms of Use — the user contract, licence, ownership, availability and liability.
- Privacy Notice — UK/EU GDPR purposes, lawful bases, recipients, retention and rights.
- AI Transparency Notice — provider roles, limitations, EU AI Act disclosures and publication duties.
- Device Storage & Cookies — IndexedDB, local storage, credentials and service-worker caching.
- Acceptable Use Policy — unlawful, deceptive, abusive and high-impact uses.
- Accessibility Statement — current support, limitations and feedback.
- Refund Policy — the 14-day voluntary refund process and statutory rights.
Electronic acceptance
Before activation or first use, Chapbook requires a positive clickwrap. The user agrees to the Terms and separately acknowledges the Privacy and AI notices. The document version and timestamp are stored on that device. A material legal update changes the version and asks again.
